The Deliberate Project
Publisher Terms & Privacy Policy
Prepared for use with a Substack publication
Effective date: August 11, 2026
PART I — PUBLISHER TERMS OF SERVICE
1. About These Terms
These Publisher Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern the relationship between The Deliberate Project (“The Deliberate Project,” “the Publication,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and readers or subscribers (“you” or “your”). The Deliberate Project is published through the Substack platform.
These Terms apply alongside Substack’s own Terms of Use, Publisher Agreement, Privacy Policy, Content Guidelines, and other applicable platform policies. Substack’s terms govern your use of the Substack platform; these Publisher Terms govern your relationship with The Deliberate Project as a reader or subscriber.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By subscribing to, purchasing a paid subscription to, accessing, or using The Deliberate Project, you acknowledge these Terms. If you do not agree with them, you should not subscribe to or use the Publication.
3. Free and Paid Subscriptions
The Deliberate Project may offer free, monthly, annual, founding-member, or other subscription options made available through Substack. The content, frequency, features, and benefits associated with each tier may change over time.
Paid subscriptions provide access to the benefits described at the time of subscription. A paid subscription does not guarantee a specific number of articles, posts, audio programs, downloads, or other materials unless expressly stated in the applicable offer.
4. Billing, Renewals, Cancellations, and Refunds
Paid subscriptions are processed through Substack and its payment providers. Monthly and annual paid subscriptions generally renew automatically unless canceled before the next renewal date. Cancellation stops future renewal; paid subscriber benefits ordinarily continue through the end of the billing period already paid for.
All subscription payments are generally non-refundable once paid, except where a refund is required by applicable law, provided under Substack’s applicable refund policy, required because of a payment processing error, or otherwise issued at the publisher’s discretion. Under Substack’s current refund policy, Substack may honor qualifying refund requests submitted within 7 days of payment unless a subscriber perk has been claimed, and may also issue refunds in certain other circumstances. Purchases made through Apple’s App Store are subject to Apple’s applicable refund rules.
Canceling a subscription does not ordinarily create a right to a refund for the current billing period. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable rights available under applicable law.
4A. Payment Disputes and Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is incorrect, you are encouraged to contact The Deliberate Project or use the applicable Substack support process before initiating a payment dispute. Chargebacks and card disputes are handled through the applicable payment processor and card issuer. Nothing in this section prevents a subscriber from exercising lawful dispute rights.
5. Educational and Informational Purpose
The Deliberate Project provides content for general educational and informational purposes, including material concerning personal development, habits, time management, decision-making, productivity, leadership, and related subjects.
The content is not individualized legal, medical, mental-health, financial, tax, investment, or other licensed professional advice. You are responsible for evaluating information and deciding whether and how to apply it to your own circumstances.
6. No Guarantee of Results
Examples, strategies, frameworks, recommendations, and experiences discussed in The Deliberate Project do not guarantee any particular personal, professional, financial, health, business, or other result. Outcomes depend on many factors outside the Publication’s control.
7. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, original articles, essays, newsletters, graphics, downloads, frameworks, audio, video, and other original materials published by The Deliberate Project are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
Your subscription gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive right to access the content for your own use. You may not reproduce, republish, sell, license, distribute, systematically copy, or commercially exploit substantial portions of paid or protected content without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.
Ordinary sharing of links to publicly available posts is permitted and encouraged.
8. Reader Conduct
When using comments, chats, discussions, or other community features associated with The Deliberate Project, you agree to communicate lawfully and respectfully. We may moderate or remove content, restrict participation, or take other reasonable action when conduct is abusive, unlawful, disruptive, infringing, deceptive, or inconsistent with applicable Substack rules.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
The Deliberate Project may refer or link to third-party websites, products, services, books, tools, or resources. A reference or link does not necessarily constitute an endorsement. We are not responsible for the availability, content, privacy practices, security, or terms of independent third parties.
10. Changes to the Publication or These Terms
We may modify the Publication, subscription offerings, benefits, or these Terms from time to time. When appropriate, the effective date will be updated. Material changes will be handled in a manner consistent with applicable law and the tools available through Substack.
11. Disclaimer and Limitation
To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Deliberate Project is provided on an “as available” basis without a guarantee that all content will always be available, uninterrupted, complete, or error-free. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

PART II — PUBLISHER PRIVACY POLICY
1. Scope
This Publisher Privacy Policy explains how The Deliberate Project handles personal information in connection with the Publication and its subscriber relationship. The Deliberate Project operates on Substack, which separately processes information under Substack’s own privacy policies and platform terms.
2. Information We May Receive or Process
Depending on how you interact with The Deliberate Project and what Substack makes available to publishers, we may receive or process information such as:
• your name or profile name, if provided;
• your email address;
• your subscription status and subscription history;
• information about interactions with Publication content, such as opens, clicks, comments, likes, or similar engagement information when available;
• messages, replies, survey responses, or other information you voluntarily provide; and
• limited transaction or subscription information made available to the publisher.
We do not need or intend to receive your full payment-card number through the ordinary Substack publisher dashboard. Payment processing is handled through Substack and its payment providers.
3. How We Use Information
We may use subscriber information to:
• deliver free and paid Publication content;
• administer subscriptions and subscriber benefits;
• communicate with you about the Publication;
• respond to questions or support requests;
• understand readership and improve content;
• maintain security and prevent misuse;
• keep reasonable business and transaction records; and
• comply with applicable legal obligations.
4. Legal Bases Where Applicable
Where a privacy law requires a legal basis for processing, the applicable basis may include performance of a subscription relationship or contract, your consent, compliance with legal obligations, or legitimate interests such as operating, securing, and improving the Publication, as permitted by law.
5. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell subscriber personal information for money.
Information may be processed or shared with service providers when reasonably necessary to operate the Publication, including Substack and its payment, hosting, email, analytics, security, or related service providers. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect legal rights or safety, or in connection with a legitimate business reorganization, subject to applicable law.
Substack independently determines certain uses of information for its own platform purposes under its own privacy documentation.
6. Paid Subscription Information
Payments are processed through the systems used by Substack and its payment providers. The Deliberate Project may receive information necessary to administer a paid subscription, but payment providers handle sensitive payment credentials according to their own terms and privacy practices.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including operating subscriptions, maintaining appropriate records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal obligations. Information retained by Substack is also subject to Substack’s own retention practices.
8. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
You may unsubscribe from Publication emails or manage your subscription using the controls provided by Substack.
Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide rights concerning your personal information, which can include rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or information about certain processing. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions.
For requests concerning information controlled directly by The Deliberate Project, contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL]. For information controlled by Substack independently, use Substack’s applicable privacy procedures.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Deliberate Project is not intentionally directed to children in a manner that would require us to knowingly collect children’s personal information without appropriate authorization. Substack also maintains its own age and account requirements.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and operational measures appropriate to the information available to us. No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.
11. International Readers
Because the Publication is available online, readers may access it from different countries. Substack and other service providers may process information in jurisdictions different from your own. Their respective privacy documentation describes their platform-level practices and safeguards.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Publisher Privacy Policy as the Publication, applicable requirements, or our practices change. The effective date at the top of this document will be revised when appropriate.
